Workhouses and the potato blight have been the focus of learning in P7 for the last few weeks. The pupils learnt about how to write a diary entry from the perspective of a child in a famine workhouse and they used their typing skills to complete a finalised version. We've learned about the Irish dependency on the potato during the famine and even the chemical name for potato blight-Phytophthora infestans. To finish off a great day of learning,we completed our paint and collage Irish famine cottages. It's been a busy few weeks!
