'Engineers Week Ireland' at St. Lawrence's

13th Mar 2026

'Engineers Week Ireland' took place from 28th to 6th March and it was an exciting and inspiring experience for all pupils.

Throughout the week, children took part in a variety of hands-on activities including bridge building, learning about the wind, powering cars with balloons, constructing chairs, building marshmallows structures, building 'Cities of the Future' and learning about the 6 basic machines. Each activity encouraged creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Pupils worked collaboratively, sharing ideas and learning how to improve their designs through trial and error as children learned that mistakes are part of the engineering process. They showed great enthusiasm and curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and demonstrating a strong interest in how things work.

Overall, Engineering Week was a huge success. It provided a fun and engaging way for pupils to develop important STEM skills, boosted their confidence, and inspired many to think about future careers in engineering and technology.

A massive thank you to all staff for their enthusiasm and organisation in making 'Engineers Week Ireland' a huge success.
